Job Description
Job Title: Food Runner
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Delivering the food from the kitchen to the tables. Kitchen expediting.
Tasks include but not limited to:
- Running the proper menu items to the correct tables
- Keeping the kitchen on time in the production of food
- Maintaining the aesthetics of the dishes we serve
- Helping clear plates whenever possible while running food
- Maintaining a proficient level of tableside grace (i.e. gently placing plates, being unobtrusive, and having a pleasant smile)
- Maintaining the runner station, keeping it organized, and restocking it to pars set by management
- Assisting servers and communicating clearly and effectively in English to guests and co-workers
Requirements: Skills set (Knowledge & Abilities):
- Knowledge and understanding of basic food preparation
- Knowledge of the ingredients and presentation of all the menu items
- Knowledge of the cooking times of the menu items
- Knowledge of the restaurant layout (i.e. tables, seats and station numbers)
- Ability to read and understand order checks
- Being able to regularly perform the essential functions of the job (bending and reaching; lifting and transporting up to 3 plates at one time and holding them properly; standing and moving around for up to 8 hours per shift)
- Having adequate English language skills in order to communicate effectively with guests and co-workers
