Position Overview

The Store Manager is a key leader responsible for ensuring that all daily operations align with company objectives while fostering a culture of safety, compassion, and professionalism. This role requires a hands-on manager who can inspire a team, support business goals, and ensure the highest standards of care for our canine guests.

The Store Manager oversees all staff functions including Groomers, Handlers, Pack Leaders, and Overnight Care. This individual collaborates closely with senior leadership to drive operational excellence and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities Daily Operations

  • Lead by example and promote a strong culture of safety and care.
  • Oversee all aspects of facility operations to ensure exceptional service and compliance with company policies.
  • Cross-train in all non-grooming positions to support coverage as needed.
  • Conduct end-of-shift walk-throughs to ensure completion of all duties and adherence to animal care standards.
  • Maintain operational consistency by following and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Be available to support the 24-hour nature of the business, including weekends and holidays when necessary.

Leadership & Business Support

  • Serve as a liaison between the facility and senior management, communicating goals, updates, and challenges.
  • Review financial reports, monitor labor budgets, and support cost control and efficiency initiatives.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and assist in the rollout of new company programs and promotions.

  • Ensure store readiness for inspections, audits, and walkthroughs.

Client Experience

  • Build strong relationships with clients and ensure an exceptional guest experience.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Maintain a high standard of service and cleanliness throughout the facility.
  • Support account management and client communication through the company’s operating system.

Team Development

  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of animal care professionals to achieve operational excellence.
  • Create and manage schedules to ensure adequate labor coverage while staying within budget.
  • Oversee payroll processing and timecard accuracy.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, coach employees for growth, and recognize achievements.
  • Support ongoing employee education and training initiatives.

Qualifications

Experience & Education:

  • 5 years of supervisory or management experience, preferably in a pet care, hospitality, or service industry setting.
  • P&L experience
  • Minimum 3 years of customer service experience.
  • Professional experience working with dogs or in a related animal care facility preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Sales Experience

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budget management and labor control.
  • Proficient in computer systems (experience with Gingr, Zenefits, or similar platforms preferred).
  • Must be comfortable working in close proximity to dogs of all breeds and sizes.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.
