Project Manager- Miami Dade/Broward

Who We Are

Downrite Engineering is an established underground utility and sitework contractor delivering deep sanitary sewer, water main, storm drainage, roadway, and concrete improvements across South Florida. We self-perform across multiple counties and build the infrastructure behind residential communities, logistics parks, and commercial developments. We are looking for an experienced civil Project Manager to lead project delivery and drive results.

The Role

The Project Manager owns the successful delivery of civil construction projects — deep sanitary sewer, water main, storm drainage, roadway, and sitework — from award through closeout. You are the person accountable for the budget, schedule, procurement, subcontractors, and owner and agency relationships on your projects. Working closely with estimating, superintendents, and field crews, you turn the contract into a profitable, on-time build while keeping owners, engineers, and inspectors aligned. This is a role for someone who knows South Florida civil work and can run multiple concurrent projects with authority.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage civil/underground utility and sitework projects from buyout and mobilization through closeout.
• Own the project budget and cost forecast; track productivity, manage margin, and report project financials.
• Review contracts and scope; identify risks, exclusions, and opportunities before and during execution.
• Handle procurement — materials, long-lead items, and equipment — and expedite deliveries to protect the schedule.
• Buy out, negotiate, and manage subcontractors; align unit pricing, scope, and terms.
• Prepare and manage schedules; coordinate with superintendents and foremen to keep the field on plan.
• Prepare and process pay applications, change orders, and monthly billings; manage retainage and cash flow.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with owners, engineers, and permitting/utility agencies (WASD, MDWASD, county utilities, FDOT, DERM/RER, SFWMD).
• Protect the company's contractual position, including notice, documentation, and Florida Chapter 713 lien rights when needed.
• Enforce safety and quality standards in coordination with field leadership.
• Run multiple concurrent projects and keep leadership informed of status, risks, and results.

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of project management experience in civil construction — underground utilities, sitework, and/or roadway.
• Strong command of civil plans, specifications, estimates, and construction means and methods.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, procurement, and subcontractors on concurrent projects.
• Experience with pay applications, change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
• Working knowledge of South Florida permitting and agency standards (WASD/MDWASD, county utilities, FDOT, DERM/RER, SFWMD).
• Direct, organized communicator who can hold owners, engineers, and field crews accountable.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with major regional developers and engineers (e.g., Lennar, Kolter, Bridge Industrial; Ford Engineers, Hadonne).
• Familiarity with Florida Chapter 713 lien rights and construction contract administration.
• Estimating / takeoff background and the ability to level bids and validate quantities.
• Proficiency with construction management and scheduling software and strong Excel skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Requirements

• Able to split time between the office and active jobsites in South Florida conditions year-round.
• Able to walk active sites, including near open excavations and heavy equipment.
• Able to travel between projects across the South Florida service area.

Pay: $1,600.00 - $2,300.00 per week
