Downeast Coffee Roasters, a third generation family owned coffee company founded in 1953, is looking for an experienced coffee professional with an entrepreneurial mindset to lead the operation of our vintage Downeast Coffee Truck at events throughout New England, with a particular emphasis on Rhode Island.

This is not a typical barista position.

Think of it as the opportunity to operate a turnkey mobile coffee business with the resources, infrastructure, and backing of Downeast behind you.

The coffee truck is built, branded, equipped, and ready to go. Downeast provides the coffee, equipment, products, systems, and support needed to operate. We are looking for someone who wants to take that platform, make it successful, and participate financially in what they help build.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Downeast Coffee Truck is designed to showcase what exceptional coffee can truly be.

From carefully sourced coffees and experimental lots to beautifully balanced espresso drinks prepared with intention, the truck allows us to show people what Downeast coffee can do in a fun, approachable, and memorable way.

The truck will appear at festivals, markets, community events, private and corporate events, trade shows, Downeast events, and other opportunities throughout New England.

This person will do more than simply work events. We want someone who will help identify opportunities, develop ideas, build relationships, and think like an operator about how to grow revenue, profitability, and awareness of the Downeast brand.

TRANSPORTATION & EVENT SETUP

The Downeast Coffee Truck is a small vintage coffee vehicle that is transported to events inside a 7' x 12' enclosed trailer with a 3,500 lb. GVWR.

A key part of this position is transporting the trailer to and from events, safely loading and unloading the coffee truck, setting up for service, and breaking everything down afterward.

Experience towing a trailer is a must. The trailer is relatively small and lightweight, but candidates must be comfortable with or capable of becoming proficient in towing and maneuvering it safely.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Transport, set up, operate, and break down the Downeast Coffee Truck at events
• Prepare high quality espresso and coffee beverages to a consistent specialty standard
• Deliver exceptional hospitality and represent Downeast professionally
• Maintain inventory, cleanliness, organization, and product quality
• Help identify and pursue events, trade shows, partnerships, and other opportunities where the truck can generate revenue and build the Downeast brand
• Bring ideas for improving the menu, customer experience, operations, and profitability
• Take real responsibility for the success and growth of the truck

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 2 years of barista experience, with specialty coffee experience strongly preferred
• Entrepreneurial, self motivated, dependable, and comfortable working independently
• Confident dialing in espresso and maintaining beverage quality
• Experience towing and maneuvering a small enclosed trailer
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record
• Comfortable with loading, unloading, setup, breakdown, and the physical nature of event operations
• Available for events including weekends and occasional weekdays
• Willing to travel throughout New England for select events
• Comfortable working outdoors and in changing New England weather conditions
• Someone who genuinely loves coffee, hospitality, events, and interacting with people

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who wants more ownership, autonomy, and upside than a traditional barista position and is excited about helping build something.

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

Starting at $25 per hour, based on experience, plus significant profit sharing tied to the performance of the Downeast Coffee Truck.

This is a part time, event based position. Hours will vary depending on the event schedule and will include weekends and occasional weekdays.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week
