What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yoga, Pilates & Fitness Teachers position at Down Under School of Yoga?
As the only independent studio in the U.S. with a teacher-written employment agreement, a Teacher Leadership Council (TLC) for accountability, formal HR processes, and full employee benefits—including healthcare, sick days, maternity/paternity leave, and unemployment coverage—we are deeply committed to supporting our teachers.
Our teacher-led and teacher-focused culture includes seasonal faculty meetings with Directors and Studio Managers who manage student care, outreach, educational support, and marketing assistance. During the pandemic, our loyalty to each other and smart strategy ensured that all Down Under teachers and managers remained employed while much of the industry suffered widespread layoffs.
The TLC shapes the school’s trajectory, oversees major decisions, and maintains our Codes of Collaboration, which affirm a professional, inclusive, and supportive environment. Over the past two decades, we have grown from a small group of friends in a parish hall to one of the country’s premier yoga schools, celebrating diversity in teaching traditions united by a shared love for the craft.
