What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grocery Buyer position at Down to Earth?
The grocery buyer is responsible for assisting and maintaining the entire grocery department; taking grocery inventory, and maintaining pricing accuracy in the grocery department. They are also responsible for assisting in achieving the following key results:
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
- Good knowledge of and familiarity (if necessary) with computers including Excel, Word, email, internet, etc.
- Good organizational, leadership skills - detail-oriented, accurate.
- Good understanding of the Company's inventory, pricing, purchasing, and receiving processes preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be detail-oriented so we can minimize expenses and loss.
- Must be available to work nights and weekends.
Physical Demands
- Standing: frequently working out in the sun all day. e.g. stocking, receiving
- Walking: frequently (e.g. store walkthroughs, customer service, stocking, purchasing, general business
- Climbing: Always climbing ladders, moving huge rolling ladders
- Lifting/Carrying: frequently up to 30 to 50 pounds, unloading pallets of heavy water all-day
- Pushing/Pulling: up to 100lb uboats, ability to learn to drive a forklift
- Stooping, bending, and kneeling: e.g. stocking, purchasing
Pay Range
- Competitive Pay: - $22.00 to $28.75 per hour
- Starting at $22.00/hr, with growth opportunities up to $28.75/hr

Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations and ensure smooth functioning of the store.
- Manage inventory levels, including purchasing and stocking of products.
- Supervise and train staff, fostering a positive team environment.
- Handle customer service inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of sales and cash register transactions.
- Implement merchandising strategies to enhance product visibility and sales.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, particularly regarding nutrition.
