What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Plant Operations Assistant position at Down To Dirt Plant Nursery?
Down To Dirt Plant Nursery is looking for a reliable part-time assistant to help with packing plant orders and assisting with various parts of the business.
Main Responsibilities:
- Packing plant orders once per week
- Pulling plants and packing them safely for transport
- Loading completed orders into the bed of a truck
- Preparing products (mixing and packaging carnivorous plant soil, etc.)
- Helping prepare inventory for plant markets and events
- Occasional pickups or drop-offs for plants or supplies
- Seasonal planting or plant prep when needed
As you become more knowledgeable about our plants and products, there may eventually be opportunities to help work plant events and assist customers.
Most work takes place at our residential property where we pack orders and prepare products. We do not grow plants on the property.
Schedule:
- Typically Tuesdays from 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM
- Includes a 30 minute break
- If it’s a larger shipping week, the schedule may occasionally change
- If additional work is available, you may work past 8:00 PM if discussed in advance
Pay:
- Starting pay $15/hour (unless discussed otherwise)
- Pay can increase up to $20/hour as efficiency and plant knowledge improve
- Occasional bonuses offered
Expectations:
- Reliability is extremely important
- No last-minute cancellations unless it is an emergency
- 2 weeks notice if you know you will miss your scheduled day
- Must be trustworthy, respectful, polite, and have a strong work ethic
- Ability to work in Florida heat during the summer
This is an independent contractor (1099) position.
We’re looking for someone who wants to grow with the business, not just show up for a shift. Our goal is to find someone who becomes part of the Down To Dirt family.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
