Summary Description
Provide support for the classroom teacher and building as outlined in the Work-Based Learning training plan.
Qualifications
- Current High School Student
- Must have completed and passed Carpentry 1 and Carpentry 2.
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Basic reading, writing, and computation skills; good written and oral communication skills; basic computer skills preferred.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate well in a team environment.
- Must have their OSHA 10 for Construction.
- This must fit into their schedule.
- Must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher at the homeschool.
Essential Duties
Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist with monitoring student safety in the lab.
- Assist the teacher in demonstrating proper tool usage.
- Assist the teacher with a ladder and scaffolding demonstration.
- Aide students in the location of tools and materials.
- Going to the copy room to make copies if needed.
- Getting tools and materials from storage areas located outside the lab area while we are working in the lab.
- Any other duties that may be assigned when necessary.
Placements
The Carpentry student assistant will be placed at Dowell J Howard.
Pay Rate
The rates for FY26: 1st year - $15.00
2nd year - $15.25
3rd year - $15.50
