Infection Control Registered Nurse (RN)

Dover Behavioral Health System is a 104-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful Dover, Delaware area. Dover Behavioral Health System features individual units for adolescents and adults and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. The Infection Control Nurse is a key member of Dover Behavioral Health System who will lead the infection control and employee health programs with a keen focus on patient care and employee wellness.

Job Requirements:

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and Medical Director, responsible for patient and employee illnesses and monitors infections
  • Serve as a key member of the hospital infection control committee, as well as deliver infection control metrics and data to the Management Team, Quality Council, Patient Safety Committee and other facility committees
  • Ensure that all employees are in compliance with their PPD screening annually; Analyze and report on employee and patient infections and illness to determine any correlation between them
  • Maintain the flu shot program for the facility by delivering flu shot clinics, educating staff, and tracking and reporting the facility’s flu shot data to the appropriate parties
  • Meet all Joint Commission, CMS, state and local regulatory requirements and present during audits and surveys
  • Develop, implement, update and enforce the hospital’s infection control policies and procedures
  • Conducts infection control related training sessions, and develop a system to ensure staff are receiving annual training and stay abreast of industry changes
  • Other duties as assigned

Required:

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years experience as a registered nurse in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing. Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Additional Requirements: CPR certification and successful completion of TEAM Training, including appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint, within 90 days of employment, and prior to assisting in a restraining process. Must pass a medication administration exam and complete a basic developmental competency exam.

*UHS benefits are available to employees who are regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week. Coverage is effective on day 31 of employment. Eligibility for employees who are scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week varies by location.
