Doumak, Inc. is The Marshmallow Company. It was founded in 1921. We are a leading producer of marshmallows sold under the Campfire® and Fireside® brands, and for private label. Our two Chicago area facilities provide packaged marshmallows for distribution world-wide through wholesale, retail grocery, and food service channels.
The Maintenance Manager takes full ownership of the maintenance department within our 42,000 square foot manufacturing plant, directly reporting to the Corporate Operations Manager. The ideal candidate must be completely comfortable managing, troubleshooting, and executing technical work inside a fast-paced, non-stop production environment where maximizing high-speed machinery uptime is the top priority.

SUMMARY
The maintenance manager leads the plant's technical team, implements preventive maintenance programs, and ensures high-speed candy processing and packaging equipment runs safely and reliably. Key responsibilities typically include managing department budgets, directing staff and contractors, and complying with food safety regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Cross-Functional Communication: Act as the primary technical liaison between operations, quality assurance, human resources, and plant leadership.
· Equipment Reliability: Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to optimize machine uptime on high-speed confection and packaging lines.
· Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and schedule maintenance technicians, mechanics, and outside contractors.
· Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict adherence to OSHA, EPA, GMP, and HACCP food safety standards.
· Budget Management: Control departmental expenses, manage spare parts inventory, and assist with capital project planning.
· Continuous Improvement: Use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) data to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and reduce equipment downtime.
· Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to articulate technical data clearly to plant personnel, senior management, and external auditors, both verbally and in writing.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, management, or equivalent hands-on industrial experience.
· Experience: 7 years of maintenance experience, ideally within a food, beverage, or confectionery manufacturing plant. Hayssen and Triangle packaging machine experience a plus.
· Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in electrical control systems, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical troubleshooting.
· Software: Familiarity with CMMS platforms (IFS, SAP, Redzone).
