Work Schedule: Full-time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Wage: $15.92 – $20.66 per hour (based on experience)
Job Summary
Responsible for maintaining the safety of children, families, and staff by ensuring program facilities and vehicles are properly maintained and repaired. Ensures all facilities and vehicles remain in compliance with state and federal regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, and state licensing requirements. Oversees and performs general maintenance and necessary repairs across all program properties as needed.
Education & Skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience in building maintenance and/or fleet vehicle care preferred
- Basic knowledge of OSHA standards preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification required after hire
Physical/Mental Demands:
This is a hands-on position that includes indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
May require:
- Lifting up to 40 lbs
- Standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, and crawling for extended periods
- Working in tight or elevated spaces
- Operating tools, equipment, and vehicles
- Focused attention on detailed tasks
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform and manage maintenance and repairs for facilities and vehicles
- Ensure vehicles are safe, inspected, licensed, and insured
- Work with leadership to obtain supplies and services
- Coordinate with contractors and landlords for repairs
- Support facility policies and procedures
- Assist with planning maintenance and renovation projects
- Help train staff on safety and compliance standards
- Conduct regular safety checks and recommend improvements
