In this role, the Coordinator will work closely with building principals, special education staff, and families to ensure high-quality programming, legal compliance, and strong outcomes for students with disabilities.
The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail-oriented, and deeply committed to supporting inclusive, student-centered practices.The Special Education Coordinator provides comprehensive administrative and instructional support to building principals, with a strong focus on procedural safeguards and technical guidance across all areas of special education.
This individual plays an essential leadership role in monitoring and evaluating special education staff, coordinating IEP processes, and ensuring that services align with each students unique needs as well as state and federal regulations.
In partnership with principals, the Coordinator consults on discipline procedures for students with disabilities and oversees the delivery of specialized instruction and related services.
The role includes scheduling and facilitating IEP meetings, serving as the district representative when assigned, and ensuring that IEPs are developmentally appropriate, standards-based, strength-focused, and compliant with all legal requirements.
The Coordinator also supports staff through ongoing training, technical assistance, and the integration of new research and best practices into programs and initiatives.
Effective communication with families is a key component, including guiding parents and guardians through the special education process from referral to evaluation, annual reviews, re-evaluations, discipline, and procedural safeguards.
To stay current with evolving practices and policies, the Coordinator participates in relevant training sessions, workshops, and conferences.Attendance at administrative meetings and work sessions is also required. Additional responsibilities and special projects may be assigned by the Director of Special Education & Student Support Services.
Salary range for this position is $85,000-$99,000.
