Optometric Assistant/Optician
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our eye care team. In this role, you will support the optometrist in delivering high-quality vision care services.
Responsibilities include:
- Greet and check in patients in a professional and welcoming manner
- Take patient medical histories and record information accurately
- Conduct preliminary testing (e.g., visual acuity, tonometry, autorefraction, retinal imaging
- Support the optometrist during exams as needed
- Assist patients with frame selection and provide guidance on lens options
Manage inventory of frames to ensure optimum patient satisfaction and product variety Write work orders for laboratory techs and provide them with the information needed to make new lenses
- Repair and replace eyeglass frames as needed
- Work with patients to ensure that eyeglasses fit properly
- Teach patients proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care techniques
- Maintain clean and organized exam and pre-test areas
- Order and manage inventory of optical products and office supplies
- Educate patients on their corrective lens options and help them make a choice that fits their medical needs as well as lifestyle preferences
- Write work orders for laboratory techs and provide them with the information needed to make new lenses
- Work with patients to ensure that eyeglasses fit properly
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Able to multi-task and self initiate
- Experience preferred but will train the right person
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
