Riddle School District seeks qualified applicants for the position of Head Cook to begin in the 2026-2027 school year. 6.5 hours per day / 5 days per week.
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for all aspects of food production in assigned school, ensuring sanitation, food cost, and scheduling guidelines are achieved. This is a working lead position with the primary duties focused on preparing and serving food.
PAY RATE: $23.46 - $27.00 per hour (Depending on experience)

DUTIES

•Develop and implement K–12 menus in accordance with program requirements.
•Estimate, order, receive, and manage food and supply inventory using established systems and procedures.
•Plan, prepare, and oversee the production of all breakfast and lunch meals in accordance with planned menus and standardized recipes.
•Perform primary cooking duties and ensure all food is prepared to high standards of quality, taste, and appearance.
•Ensure proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices in compliance with health and safety standards.
•Oversee and participate in the cleaning and sanitation of kitchen facilities, equipment, and utensils.
•Supervise and direct kitchen staff, helpers, and students in daily food service operations.
•Maintain accurate records, including food usage, inventory, meal counts, and free/reduced lunch program participation.
•Operate point-of-sale/meal tracking systems and reconcile daily meal counts and deposits.
•Monitor food quality and equipment functionality; report concerns to appropriate personnel.
•Collaborate with district staff, custodial, and maintenance teams to support kitchen operations.
•Manage time and workflow to ensure efficient meal preparation aligned with menus, production schedules, and program standards.
•Support a fiscally responsible food service program by controlling food, supply, and labor costs.
•Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
•Other duties may be assigned as needed.
•Act as a friendly ambassador for the Riddle School District
QUALIFICATIONS
•High school diploma or GED
•At least one year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Prior experience in food service strongly preferred.
• Oregon Food Handlers Certificate required.
