THE POSITION
Douglas County Information Systems
Part-time, 20 hrs per week, non-benefited position. Work schedule is flexible, but working hours must fall between 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday. Includes paid sick and vacation leave pursuant to County policies.
Onsite (Courthouse complex) childcare available at a discounted employee rate through Roseburg Professional Childcare (Fowler St. location only). Availability is subject to center waitlist.
Job Summary:
This position performs a wide variety of accounting functions associated with the validation, examination, coding and reconciliation of fiscal, financial and purchasing records requiring considerable judgment in the application and interpretation of rules, regulations and procedures within the Information Technology Department.
Essential Functions:

- Perform I.T. purchasing and entry level administrative duties.
- Review daily, bi-monthly and monthly computer printouts and reconcile supporting documentation to detect and correct errors.
- Prepare and enter journal vouchers.
- Perform fixed asset maintenance duties as assigned, including completing appropriate forms; entering data; resolving problems, preparing adjustments and reconciling fixed assets accounts.
- Receive and record cash receipts, prepare revenue transmittals and deposit with Treasurer's Office.
- Coordinate, confer with and resolve problems with data processing department related to technical and programming aspects of accounting functions.
- Prepare fiscal, financial, and statistical reports that involve the examination and consideration of facts, researching and consultation with technical or professional staff to resolve problems. Maintain files and conduct file and record searches.
- Compute, prepare, and mail billings according to established federal, state, and departmental requirements; maintain petty cash fund.
- Interpret policies, procedures, rules, and regulations to department personnel, outside agencies and the public regarding fiscal, financial and statistical information.
- Perform various routine office support services and clerical tasks as necessary.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required, will be considered. however, the following is preferred:
- Associate's degree in accounting and two years work related experience
- Four years accounting experience
- At time of appointment, must possess valid Oregon drivers license
- Regular and consistent attendance
Physical Demands: Work is performed in an office environment and is generally sedentary; however, some positions may require bending, hearing voice conversations, keyboarding, kneeling, lifting up to 15 pounds, pulling, pushing, reaching, sitting, standing and walking.
SCREENING & EVALUATION
Background Investigation: While not part of initial applicant screening, the finalist for this position may be required to pass a criminal history background as part of a contingent offer of employment. Conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual from employment. Successful candidates for this position must also pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check. The CJIS Clearance is done within the first 30 days of employment and is processed at no expense to the applicant/employee.
Position may require infrequent driving. Finalist will be asked to provide a driving history that meets the Douglas County Driver Policy as part of contingent offer of employment. Failure to provide a driving record that meets the Policy will not necessarily exclude an applicant from employment.
