Salary: $12.00 per hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Set up and close Vote Centers
- Help voters understand their rights
- Help voters use voting equipment
- Protect ballots and voting equipment
- Be able to perform ALL duties, including learning, understanding, and following procedures and instructions
- Have a professional and impartial demeanor with a focus on assisting all voters courteously and efficiently, e.g., consistently demonstrate good judgment, communication, and people skills
- Work well as a team member
Election Worker/Technical
This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the election and requires technical proficiency, problem solving skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and customer service. The role is heavily focused on using and troubleshooting electronic equipment. While prior experience with voter equipment is helpful, training will be provided to all election workers. Key technical duties include:
- Voting Systems: Assisting voters by answering questions and helping fix minor technical issues with voting devices.
- Electronic PollPads: Verifying a voter's eligibility and performing signature verification.
- Vote Counting and Accuracy: Serving on the counting and accuracy boards.
- Mail Ballots: Sorting and verifying mail ballots and ensuring the integrity and security of the vote-by-mail process.
Election Worker/Non-Technical
This position works on coordinating logistics and requires customer service skills to ensure a smooth, accessible, and positive experience for voters. Training will be provided to all election workers on all duties associated with this role. Key non-technical duties include:
- Voter Assistance and Line Management: Directs voters to the correct lines to ensure a steady and orderly flow, especially during peak hours. Answers questions, provides instructions, and maintains a calm and welcoming atmosphere.
- Ensuring Voter Readiness: Assists voters in line to prepare for the check-in process by ensuring the voter has all the necessary information or documents ready.
- Keeping the Vote Centers Fair and Orderly: Maintain the designated "no electioneering" space. Address any minor issues.
- General Support: Other duties as needed, including keeping the voting areas clean and ensuring supplies are readily available
Requirements for ALL Election Workers
- Required Training: Mandatory training program includes both online modules and a hands-on, in-person session.
- Vote Centers Setup and Tear Down: Working with team members to set up tables, chairs, voting booths, and signs before vote centers open. Disassembling everything and preparing all materials and equipment for secure transport back to the election office.
- Non-Partisan Conduct: Remain strictly non-partisan while on the job. This is a fundamental requirement to ensure a fair and impartial election.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 16 years of age
- A registered voter in Nevada (18 yrs or preregistered if 17-18 yrs old)
- Not be a candidate for nomination or election
- Not be a relative or a candidate for nomination or election
- Be able to competently operate tablets and voting machines
