Douglas County is accepting applicants for a three-month pool (November 6, 2025 – February 6, 2026) of Juvenile Corrections Officers. The Juvenile Corrections Officer is responsible for assuring that offenders at Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center are provided oversight and structure through the supervision of their daily routine. Staff model behavior for the offenders to increase their accountability, competency development, and reintegration techniques.
Duties include supervising residents, conducting safety and security inspections, providing access to healthcare facilities, and facilitating housing, feeding, bedding, and well-being activities. This position maintains security of the facility through resident counts, searches, inspections, and building security systems; books in juveniles using Jail Management Software system; and ensures communication between shifts, teachers, supervisors, and administration. Juvenile Corrections Officers must maintain accurate records about the residents and the facilities and remain alert and attentive at all times.
Candidates must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one. Required qualifications include a minimum of 3 hours of college coursework, a high school diploma or G.E.D., and basic computer skills. Preference will be given to applicants with human services experience. Compliance with shift work is mandatory.
