What are the responsibilities and job description for the Budget Analyst position at Douglas County, KS Government?

Douglas County is accepting applications for a Budget Analyst within the Administration department. This position will participate heavily in the coordination of the County’s annual budget process, as well as manage complex accounting operations throughout the year, including system uploads, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance across multiple County funds. This position will also provide technical support to departments and community partners in developing service plans and budget proposals, coordinate annual audit activities in partnership with the County auditor, and maintain the chart of accounts for the financial reporting system. The Budget Analyst will also attend meetings, prepare presentations and summaries for the Board of County Commissioners, and present financial insights. Additional duties include developing revenue forecasts for government budgets and ensuring completion and submission of required budget reports to the State of Kansas.

The required qualifications for this position are an Associate’s Degree and three to five (3-5) years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A background in Public Administration is preferred. Douglas County is dedicated to eliminating racial inequities. The salary range for this position is $32.49 – $39.80/hr. and includes excellent benefits. The starting salary will depend on experience and qualifications. Douglas County’s employee benefits include:
