Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 Job description:About DCHD:To protect and promote healthier lifestyles through prevention and education.As a certified health department, the Douglas County Health Department is responsible for several programs as well as many other public health services. Programs are grouped into divisions relating to either nursing, environmental health or health education. All programs have an educational component. The goal of this department is to increase the awareness and number of persons reached in this educational process.In 2008, The Douglas County Health Department opened the doors to its own Dental and Health Clinic. The clinic and the addition of on-site lab processing capabilities have allowed the health department to better serve the community.Benefits:Employer paid health insurance for employeesVacation accrualPersonal time accrualAccrual of 1 sick day per month (rollover)15 Paid HolidaysFlexible schedules if job duties allowDental/VisionLife insuranceTuition Assistance and Student Loan Repayment programs.Job Summary:Full Time (35 hours per week), Salaried Exempt.The Staff Accountant ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and preparing financial statements.Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including ledger entries and account reconciliations. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. Generate financial statements. Analyze financial data and provide insights to the Administrator. Assist with audits by preparing necessary financial documentation. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies. Help monitor budgets. Assist with tracking and monitoring of grant compliance. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reports for multiple grants and reconcile them to the accounting system. Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.Qualifications and Requirements: Regular predictable attendance is required. Extreme attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks experience preferred.) Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role. Government or grant experience preferred but not required. Experience with Electronic Health Records systems (EHR) preferred but not required. Professional certification (CPA or CMA) is a plus but not required.Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
