What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Tax Clerk position at Dougherty County?
The Dougherty County Tax & Tag Department is hiring for two Senior Tax Clerks. The purpose of this position is to collect Ad Valorem taxes, assist customers with questions regarding tax maps, homestead applications, address changes, homestead audit letters, and property owner information. Responsibilities may vary depending on the assigned area.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
• Collects taxes and is accountable for a cash drawer.
• Prepares tax bills, levy notices, correspondences, and other documents for mailing or filing with Clerk of Court.
• Codes and enters data into the computer relating to taxpayers reporting forms and returns.
• Performs varied clerical duties which includes but are not limited to filing, typing, copying, processing various records, answering telephones, and assisting the general public.
• Conducts research and enters and updates data in the computer.
• Examines system records to ensure proper coding and accuracy.
• Processes personal property documents for businesses, boats, aircraft and mobile homes.
• Assists in maintenance of tax maps.
• Enters data into the computer assisted mass appraisal (CAMA) program relating to deed transfers, releases, and other documentation.
• Assists the public with use of tax maps.
• Assists with all matters related to homestead, real estate, ownership, values and tax amounts.
• Performs related work as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two (2) years of relative administrative and cashiering experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
: Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
• Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
