Senior Tag & Title Technician

The Dougherty County Tax & Tag Department is hiring for a Tag & Title Technician. The purpose of this position is to collect motor vehicle taxes, fees, process motor vehicle titles, registrations and renewals in accordance with state laws regarding vehicle registration. This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks. • Acquires, reviews, processes, and approves title applications upon presentation of appropriate documentation by general public. Accountable for any title processing errors and corrections. • Assists general public, dealerships, corporations, trucking industry, etc. with related information, documentation, prebills and problem solving. • Assists tag office clerks and customers in problem solving. • Assists law enforcement, and other entities with title and tag verification. • Responsible for recording and releasing security interest on vehicles. • Processes applications for property tax exemptions, property returns, and reviews exemption documentation. • Balances monies received; reconcile cash drawer daily and run reports at the end of day closeout. • Conducts research, enters, and updates data in the computer. • Performs related work as assigned. • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. • One (1) year of customer service, bookkeeping or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
