Description

The Dougherty County Jail Facility is hiring for a Custodian. The purpose of this position is to maintain a clean, sanitary and safe environment for the Dougherty County Jail Facility.

This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Essential Tasks

• Maintains the interior cleaning of assigned facilities.
• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and water fountains; restocks restroom supplies.
• Maintains floors to include mopping, stripping, waxing and buffing.
• Vacuums and shampoos carpets.
• Empties, cleans, and relines trash containers.
• Cleans mirrors, windows, and blinds.
• Cleans up chemical spills using Material Safety Data Standards (MSDS).
• Performs related work as assigned.
• Must be willing to work with inmates.

Minimum Qualification

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• One (1) year of cleaning or maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Supplemental Information

: Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

• Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, dancing, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

Special Certifications And Licenses:

• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
