Role Description The Traveling 6010 Med Gas Foreman is a full-time, on-site role based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with frequent travel to project sites. This role oversees ASSE 6010 medical gas installation projects, including planning daily work, assigning tasks, and verifying that all installations meet applicable codes, specifications, and safety standards. The foreman coordinates with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and facility representatives to schedule work, resolve field issues, and maintain clear communication on progress and requirements. Daily responsibilities include supervising installation crews, reading and interpreting blueprints, inspecting completed work, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, assisting with material takeoffs and ordering, and promoting a safe, efficient jobsite that meets project timelines and quality expectations.
Qualifications
- Strong supervisory skills to lead field crews, manage schedules, and ensure quality and safety on active jobsites.
- Ability to operate or coordinate the use of heavy equipment and tools commonly used in plumbing and medical gas installation, in compliance with safety standards.
- Effective communication skills to work with team members, contractors, inspectors, and clients, including clear written documentation and reporting.
- Basic carpentry and related trade skills to support installation, framing, and mounting of piping, supports, and associated systems.
- Hands-on maintenance skills for troubleshooting, repairs, and ongoing support of medical gas and plumbing systems.
- Current ASSE 6010 Medical Gas Installer certification (or eligibility and willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, schematics, and specifications for medical gas systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to jobsite safety, OSHA standards, and healthcare facility protocols.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel regularly to various project locations.
- Previous experience as a foreman or lead installer in plumbing or medical gas projects is strongly preferred.
