JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Chief Engineer (Non-Exempt Employee)
DEPARTMENT NAME: Maintenance
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise the implementation of preventive maintenance and repairs for all property and equipment.
Monitor life safety systems and utilities and administer the department in compliance with all
corporate franchise standards and local, state, and national codes and regulations to protect assets, guests
and associates. Responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of the hotel's mechanical
electrical systems and equipment, and for the general maintenance and upkeep of the physical plant.
FFE, grounds, swimming pool, etc. as defined by Renascent Hospitality and Hilton Brand Standards.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: General Manager
Supervises: Maintenance Staff
Interfaces with: Guests, Hotel Management, Employees, Potential Employees, and
Vendors
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Fosters talent of new department staff, interviews candidates, hires, completes
performance evaluations, applies an open door policy, provide open communication
and recommend discipline and or up to termination when appropriate.
Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g.,
HVAC, plumbing) and other equipment throughout the hotel.
Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.
Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and requests to
ensure strong guest satisfaction.
Communicate with hotel management to become aware of maintenance needs and
ensure a timely response to internal requests.
Service the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters, completing
maintenance request forms and recording logs.
Maintain the building exterior and curb appeal (e.g., snow removal, lawn care,
painting, and gardening).
Maintain franchise standards and follow-up with inspection deficiencies.
Coordinate compliance of service contracts.
Implements and maintains Renascent Hospitality's preventative maintenance program.
Implement and maintain Renascent Hospitality room care programs.
Implement and maintain Renascent Hospitality engineering department's minimum
standard
Assist General Manager with annual Capital Plan development.

Actively participate in Renascent Hospitality Safety Plan and energy improvements.
Strong verbal and written skills to provide detailed direction to staff.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 2 years’ hotel Chief Engineer experience preferred.
Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with a professional
disposition. Can communicate well with guests. Ability to work with other departments for the
greater good of our guests experience. Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and
security problems in the hotel and act upon each accordingly. Be skilled in several areas such as
HVAC, electrical, carpentry, dry walling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping. Must be
able to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems and
equipment. Must be willing and able to be responsive to complaints about maintenance.

Abilities:
Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying weights up to 25 lbs. and greater, for all hotel
equipment and machinery.
Frequent bending and/or kneeling throughout the day for repairs and maintenance of hotel property,
equipment and machinery.
Mobility throughout the hotel, all floors, varying heights and distances. Use of ladders and lifts
required at times.
Continuous standing required in varying degrees throughout the day.
Climbing approximately 210 steps 10% of each day.
Climbing ladders approximately 20 feet 5% of each day.
Driving - limited driving on an occasional basis for supplies, equipment, etc. (Generally within 20
miles.)
Experience: Experience required by position is from two to three full years of full employment in a
related position with this company or other organization(s).
Material/Equipment Used:
Chemicals/Agents used: Water treatments, cleaning, degreasers, coil cleaners, paint thinners,
gasoline.
Protective Clothing - facemask (chemical testing), goggles, rubber gloves, welding shield worn
approximately 1%.
Environment:
Work inside 95% of a week; outside 5% of a week.
Abnormal temperatures - walk-in freezers below 32 degrees - 1% of the time.
Equipment operation - power hand tools (i.e. circular saw, drill)
