Shift: 1st Shift 7 AM - 4 PM
General Description:
Reporting directly to the PSM/RMP Compliance & Safety Manager, the PSM Coordinator will assist the facility’s health and safety department in coordination of the PSM/RMP program. The PSM Coordinator will provide oversight to ensure the 14 Elements of PSM are implemented at the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
· Position coordinates PSM / RMP program and is responsible for safety oversight (operation, maintenance, and upgrade) of the ammonia refrigeration system.
· Position will coordinate associated ammonia best practices and facilitate continuous improvement in the refrigeration department.
· Coordinate with the refrigeration department to ensure corrective actions/recommendations associated with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Mechanical Integrity and Compliance Audit are addressed and closed in a timely manner
· Ensure all Process Safety Information (PSI) is organized, accurate, implemented and available upon request – this especially includes process & instrument diagrams.
· Coordinate and document Management of Change/PSSR and Incident Investigations related to the ammonia refrigeration system
· Work with the ammonia refrigeration department to ensure PSM/RMP Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are current and accurate
· Assist in ammonia-related emergency planning with both internal and external parties, and ensure communication/dialogue is established with location LEPC and emergency responders
· Assist the ammonia refrigeration department in coordinating and documenting IIAR 6 Inspection/Testing/Maintenance (ITM) activities
· Coordinate training for ammonia refrigeration operators and ensure documentation is maintained and filed
· Ensure Hot Work, Line Break, LOTO and Confined Space procedures are accurate & available to ammonia refrigeration operators.
· Coordinate and oversee location’s compliance with Hazard Communication/Right-to-Know program, including (but not limited to): SDS, chemical approvals/implementation, chemical inventories, Tier II reporting.
- Effectively develop, implement, lead, and audit PSM monitoring and measurement plans, train personnel to implement those plans and be able to accurately analyze complex data.
· Serve as communication link between management and employees by keeping all personnel informed of ammonia refrigeration safety related matters, handling questions, interpreting and developing programs, and helping resolve safety-related problems - all while promoting a culture of safety for the business
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· 2 years experience in occupational safety or PSM.
· Must demonstrate strong working and technical knowledge of ammonia refrigeration.
· Must be efficient at working with internal departments as well as external contractors
· Demonstrated experience in problem solving, working independently without constant supervision, and adjusting quickly to changing demands
· Ability to work assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed
· Ability to take instruction and follow the chain of command
· Strong observational skills and attention to detail
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies
· Must have interpersonal and team skills to function as a team member and leader.
· Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and associates.
· Must have computer skills and be able to use various work-related programs (i.e. email, spreadsheets, etc.); willing to learn cloud-based platform used to digitally manage PSM/RMP program and documentation.
· Good organizational skills, attention to detail
· Must be forward-thinking and have high ethical standards, an appropriate professional image, and the ability to build trust.
· Should have sound knowledge, analytical ability, good judgment and strong “big-picture” strategic focus while simultaneously maintaining an operational, implementation and detail- oriented perspective.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 30hr General Industry certification
· Additional certifications in safety/health
· Operator 1 ammonia refrigeration operator certification
