Laboratory Technician, Full Time

Position Summary

At Double J Animal Hospital, our mission is to provide exceptional veterinary care while

treating every patient and client with compassion, respect, and professionalism. The

Laboratory Technician plays a critical role in supporting our medical team by ensuring

diagnostic testing is performed accurately, efficiently, and thoroughly. This team member

helps provide veterinarians with the information needed to diagnose and treat patients

while maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient care.

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented individual who takes pride in producing

accurate work, follows procedures carefully, and can be counted on to show up

consistently and contribute positively to our team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 Prepare, and process blood, urine, fecal, cytology, and other diagnostic samples.

 Perform in-house laboratory testing according to established protocols.

 Accurately record, communicate, and electronically file laboratory results in

patient medical records.

 Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and

quality control procedures.

 Monitor laboratory supply inventory and notify management when supplies need

to be ordered.

 Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.

 Follow all hospital safety, sanitation, and biosecurity protocols.

 Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with sample collection and patient

handling when needed.

 Ensure all laboratory work is completed thoroughly and in a timely manner.

 Maintain confidentiality of patient and client information.

 Assist with other duties as assigned to support hospital operations and patient

care.

Qualifications

 Veterinary clinic, laboratory, medical, or animal care experience preferred.

 High school diploma or equivalent required.

 Ability to learn and follow detailed procedures and protocols.

 Basic computer skills and ability to work within veterinary software systems.

 Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.

Physical Requirements

 Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

 Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

 Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.

 Ability to safely handle animals of various sizes and temperaments.
