Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Diesel Technician to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of a wide range of heavy-duty diesel engines and equipment. Your expertise will ensure that our fleet and machinery operate at peak performance, supporting operational efficiency and safety. As a leader in the shop, you will mentor technicians, coordinate complex repairs, and uphold the highest standards of quality and safety. Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of diesel technicians, providing guidance on repair procedures, safety protocols, and best practices.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and HVAC systems on various equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and tractor-trailers.
  • Perform fabrication work such as welding, soldering, and assembly to customize or repair heavy machinery components.
  • Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, power tools, and complex mechanical issues accurately.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks including tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, alignment adjustments, and vehicle maintenance checks.
  • Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications while maintaining detailed service records.
  • Assist in training junior technicians on proper use of hand tools, power tools, heavy lifting techniques, and equipment repair procedures.

Experience

  • Proven dealership experience or extensive background working with heavy equipment repair is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical knowledge across automotive repair, heavy machinery maintenance, and industrial equipment servicing.
  • Hands-on experience with excavator operation, crane servicing, forklift maintenance, and farm machinery repairs.
  • Strong understanding of schematics for electrical wiring and hydraulic systems; ability to interpret technical diagrams efficiently.
  • Skilled in automotive diagnostics using modern diagnostic tools; capable of troubleshooting complex engine issues such as diesel engine repair or transmission failures.
  • Experience with welding, fabrication techniques including soldering and assembly work required for custom repairs or modifications.
  • Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
