What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook/Prep Cook position at Dotty Lou’s BBQ & Catering?
Dotty Lou’s BBQ is looking for dependable, energetic Food Service Workers to join our BBQ service line. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen, takes pride in serving great food, and works well as part of a team.
Our BBQ line team is responsible for helping guests move quickly from order to plate, while maintaining the quality, portions, presentation, and hospitality Dotty Lou’s is known for.
Responsibilities
- Work the BBQ service line, including meats, sides, sandwiches, and other menu items
- Portion and plate food accurately and consistently
- Assist with slicing, assembling orders, expo, and pickup
- Keep the service line stocked, clean, organized, and ready for service
- Follow recipes, portion standards, and food-quality expectations
- Maintain proper hot- and cold-holding temperatures
- Follow all food-safety and sanitation procedures
- Refill sauces, sides, packaging, and service-line supplies
- Assist with opening and closing duties
- Help with basic food prep as needed
- Communicate with kitchen, counter, and pickup staff to keep orders moving
- Provide friendly, efficient service during busy periods
- Work together with the team to maintain a clean and professional restaurant
What We’re Looking For
- Reliable and punctual

- Ability to work well with others
- Attention to cleanliness, quality, and consistency
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift approximately 40–50 lbs
- Restaurant or food-service experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person
- Availability for nights, weekends, and busy restaurant shifts is a plus
