ABOUT THIS POSITION:
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Maintenance Repairer 2, responsible for the maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of all DOTD owned buildings, facilities, and welcome centers in District 62. This position is located in Unit 701 and reports directly to the Maintenance Foreman. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. The incumbent must be self-motivated and able to perform duties many times with or without direct supervision and be knowledgeable enough to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Assist with the maintenance, repair, and renovation of DOTD buildings, facilities, and welcome centers, including carpentry work such as installing drywall, cabinets, doors, windows, siding, and flooring.
Perform concrete and basic construction work, including forming, pouring, and finishing slabs and catch basins at DOTD facilities and along rights-of-way.
Complete plumbing repairs and installations, including replacing fixtures and repairing water, sewer, and gas lines.
Perform minor electrical maintenance, such as replacing light fixtures and receptacles and installing fans, heaters, and window air conditioning units.
Prepare daily work reports and assist with work coordination, including assigning tasks in the absence of the Maintenance Foreman and supporting emergency or disaster response activities when needed.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment, promotion, or by detail to special duty.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Compensation: MAINTENANCE REPAIRER 2 - Starting salary is $19.67/hourly
The incumbent is required to possess the following specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as maintain the following licensing:
- Valid State Drivers Licensure is required at time of appointment.
- Lifting: a minimum lifting capacity of 50 pounds will be required
