Position Summary:
We're seeking an experienced Underground Foreman to lead crews in underground telecommunications construction projects. This role is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining production schedules, and delivering high-quality work for fiber and coax installations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise underground construction crews performing trenching, directional drilling (HDD), plowing, and conduit installation
- Plan daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members
- Ensure all work meets DOTCOM, client, and safety standards
- Read and interpret construction prints, utility maps, and job specifications
- Coordinate with locators, drill operators, and project managers to ensure safe and efficient workflow
- Conduct daily safety meetings, job briefings, and site inspections
- Monitor production, track progress, and complete daily reports
- Identify and resolve field issues, including utility conflicts and job site challenges
- Train and mentor crew members to improve performance and safety awareness
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and vehicles
Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of underground telecommunications construction experience required
- 1–2 years of leadership or foreman experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of trenching, HDD, plowing, and conduit placement
- Experience reading construction prints and utility locates
- Familiarity with telecom construction standards and safety regulations
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL preferred)
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding work
