Position Summary:
DOTCOM is seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer to perform splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables for inside and outside plant telecommunications projects. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of fiber optics, field construction practices, and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform fusion and mechanical splicing on single and multi-strand fiber optic cables
- Conduct OTDR, light source, and power meter testing to ensure signal integrity
- Read and interpret splicing diagrams, maps, and construction prints
- Install, terminate, and maintain fiber optic enclosures, panels, and closures
- Troubleshoot and repair damaged fiber lines efficiently and safely
- Maintain accurate splicing records and documentation
- Operate splicing equipment, test gear, and bucket or lift trucks as needed
- Follow all DOTCOM safety and quality procedures
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in fiber splicing or telecommunications
- Proficiency with OTDRs, fusion splicers, and fiber identification equipment
- Understanding of fiber color codes and construction standards
- Ability to read and interpret prints, maps, and network diagrams
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and at heights
