Are you a compassionate and dedicated nurse looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact? We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The nurse plays a critical role in providing comprehensive medical care and support to our residents. The responsibilities for this position include assessing health needs, training medication administration classes, administering medications, coordinating care with other healthcare providers, and ensuring compliance with all health regulations. The nurse will oversee that the residents’ medical needs are being met.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing health assessments of residents, including vital signs and medical histories.
• Monitor residents’ health conditions and report any changes to the appropriate team members.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to established protocols and regulations.
• Educate residents and staff about medication management, side effects, and proper usage.
• Conduct medication administration classes to ensure staff is properly certified and equipped to provide medications.
• Provide training and support to direct support staff on health-related issues and best practices in caregiving.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for each resident, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and evaluations in a timely manner.
• Assist staff in recognizing signs of medical emergencies and implementing appropriate responses.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid or CPR as needed.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans for medical situations.
• Advocate for the health and well-being of residents, ensuring they receive appropriate medical care and services.
• Educate residents and families about health and wellness topics.

Skills & Abilities

• Education: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license in the state of Virginia.
• Experience: At least five (5) years experience in a healthcare setting, required. At least two (2) years experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferred. Experience with autism and/or schizophrenia, a plus.
• Computer Skills: Ability to efficiently operate computers and research, as needed. Comfortable with Microsoft Office.
• Certifications & Licenses: Valid nursing license in the state of Virginia. Certification to train Medication Administration course, preferred.
• Other Requirements: Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and standards.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
