Role Description The Senior Tax Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Bloomfield Hills, MI. This role is responsible for managing complex individual and business tax engagements, including preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns. Day-to-day tasks include performing tax research, ensuring compliance with current tax laws and regulations, and preparing and reviewing financial statements related to tax reporting. The Senior Tax Accountant will collaborate with clients to provide tax planning strategies, respond to tax authority inquiries, and support IRS representation as needed. The role also involves mentoring junior staff, contributing to process improvements, and maintaining accurate documentation and work papers.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Tax Preparation and Tax Compliance.
- Candidates should possess solid knowledge of Tax concepts and current tax laws.
- Candidates should possess proficiency in Accounting and Financial Statements.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or eligibility strongly preferred.
- Several years of progressive tax accounting experience in public accounting or a similar environment.
- Proficiency with tax and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, tax preparation platforms) and strong Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with clients and team members.
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
