ROLE OVERVIEW:
The CAD technician’s role will be to work as a member of a cross functional project team involved in the design, manufacture and installation detailing of customer specified door sets. As part of this role, the CAD technician will create CAD drawings and models that reflect the customers’ requirements on each order. Along with schematics and fabrication drawings for the manufacturing processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and update customer approval drawings based on information from customer service, sales, and engineering.
- Maintain job workflow information by entering updates into ERP System.
- Create and revise manufacturing drawings as directed by Project Managers.
- Create and revise custom layouts of models and drawings as directed by designers and engineers.
- Process all communications by updating the shared drive of released and obsolete drawings.
- Maintain ERP system data by creating and changing specifications.
- Advise Senior Project Managers of work status, workload, issues and progress as related to work assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2D Draughting Skills in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is essential, qualification beneficial.
- Associate degree or equivalent from a 2 year college or technical school in Mechanical and Computer Drafting.
- Minimum 5 years or more related experience or training.
- Experience in a construction environment with strong AutoCAD and BIM knowledge would be an advantage.
- Experience in metal fabrication a plus.
- Confident with MS office software packages.
- Ability to work with SAP software.
- Must be very technically minded.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Good time management skills.
- Knowledge and previous experience within the design and detailing of aluminum windows, doors, and curtain walling.
