Dorsett Automotive – Terre Haute, Indiana
Nissan | Hyundai | Mitsubishi

Pay: $20–$25 per hour

This is not a dead-end entry-level position. Our goal is to develop you into a professional automotive technician.

Dorsett Automotive is looking for an Apprentice Automotive Technician who want to build a long-term career in the automotive industry.

You do not need dealership or professional technician experience. You do need to be mechanically inclined, dependable, willing to learn, and serious about developing a skilled trade.

Our Apprentice Technician position is a step above our Lube Technician role and is built for people who are ready to begin learning more advanced automotive diagnosis, maintenance, and repair.

You will work alongside an experienced technician who will help develop your skills. As you demonstrate your ability, complete manufacturer training, and earn certifications, you will progress into more advanced work and have opportunities to increase your pay.

Pay & Career Growth

  • $20–$25 per hour
  • Pay increases based on demonstrated ability, training, and manufacturer certifications
  • Paid manufacturer certification training
  • Defined path toward becoming a professional automotive technician
  • Opportunities to advance into our main shop and manufacturer-certified technician positions

How the Apprenticeship Works

You won't simply be handed work and expected to figure it out on your own.

Our Apprentice Technicians work with experienced technicians who are responsible for helping them learn and develop.

Your work will progress based on demonstrated ability. As you prove that you can perform a task correctly, safely, and consistently, you will begin learning and performing more advanced work.

That progression may include:

  • Preventive maintenance
  • Multi-point vehicle inspections
  • Tires and wheel service
  • Brake service
  • Basic mechanical repairs
  • Manufacturer-specific maintenance and repair procedures
  • Electrical and diagnostic fundamentals
  • More advanced repair and diagnostic work as your skills develop

The goal isn't to keep you doing entry-level work. The goal is to develop you into a technician.
