The Production Manager will be a key operational leader, ensuring that every piece moves from design to finished jewelry smoothly, on time, and to our quality standards.
## Role overview
The Production Manager owns the day-to-day production process: planning, scheduling, vendor and supplier coordination, and quality control. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a growing, creative business, is well organized and resourceful, and can translate design vision into repeatable production systems.
## Key responsibilities
- Own production scheduling from design handoff through final delivery, ensuring projects meet deadlines and margin targets.
- Utilize ERP platform to manage orders, purchase orders, memos, inventory and to generate price quotes
- Coordinate with external manufacturers, bench jewelers, setters, casters, and other partners; maintain clear, proactive communication on timelines, issues, and changes.
- Manage and optimize the production calendar, capacity planning, and work-in-progress to support anticipated growth
- Oversee quality control for all pieces and maintain QC standards.
- Maintain accurate production documentation: POs, job bags, spec sheets, and change logs; ensure all details are correctly captured and communicated.
- Partner with the designer/founder to translate new designs into production-ready specs, including materials, processes, and lead times.
- Track and help manage COGS-related inputs (labor, materials, vendor costs) and flag variances vs. targets.
- Manage inventory of components and finished goods: monitor stock levels, anticipate needs, and coordinate reorders.
- Identify and implement process improvements and tools (systems, templates, trackers) to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and support scale.
- Package and fulfill DTC and wholesale orders
- Communicate with DTC, bespoke, and wholesale clients, keeping them updated on the status of production and aligning expectations with production realities and timelines.
## Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in jewelry production, fine jewelry operations, or related jewelry/product manufacturing roles.
- Strong understanding of fine jewelry production processes (casting, stone setting, polishing, fabrication) and standard materials (gold alloys, platinum, diamonds, colored gemstones).
- Proven track record managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a small or growing company.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; comfortable working with spreadsheets, shared documents, and basic production systems.
- Clear, professional communicator with vendors, internal partners, and, when needed, clients.
- Comfort working in a founder-led, design-forward business where priorities may shift and processes are evolving.
- Experience in the Bay Area jewelry ecosystem (bench jewelers, casters, setters, suppliers) is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with CAD workflows and/or jewelry design software is a plus (no design required, but understanding file handoff is helpful).
- Ability to travel to industry trade shows in the U.S. several times a year
