JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach / Junior Varsity Coach
DEPARTMENT: Athletic Department
REPORTS TO: Head Volleyball Coach
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position so to assist the head coach in the development and growth of the women’s volleyball program at Dordt which will support the mission of the university, as well as bring a knowledge and passion of volleyball to students, with a commitment to excellence and bringing glory to God.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee, manage, and direct the JV program.
- Attend and assist the head coach in practices, games, and team functions.
- Assist in the recruiting process as directed by the head coach.
- Carry out necessary tasks for an annual women’s volleyball program fundraiser.
- Help promote, devise, and implement a more extensive summer camp selection.
- Enhance player development through meetings, individual or small group training.
- Oversee film exchange program operations.
- Meet with prospective players during on-campus visit days.
- Maintain program’s social media network.
- Break down game film, study opponent, and devise scouting reports as needed. Other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic director if full time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.

- Understanding and commitment to the mission of Dordt University.
- Bachelor’s degree is required along with 1-3 years of related experience, preferably at the university level.
- Knowledge of and ability to teach volleyball skills and fundamentals.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with student athletes, athletic officials and all university constituents.
- Effective verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Knowledge of NAIA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student athletes.
