Community Engagement Coordinator
JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY
The Community Engagement Coordinator is a key position at Dorchester Paws that is responsible for the development of relationships with vendors, the community, local businesses as well as owns the Volunteer program. This position will be the point of contact for events and volunteers, and will work closely with the Development & Marketing Team for the purpose of planning and facilitating events (fundraising,
adoptions, community support, etc.)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
● Plan, execute, and attend all Dorchester Paws events
● Cultivate a percentage of sales fundraisers with businesses, including veterinarian offices, groomers, and other similar industry businesses
● Assist with the planning of the signature/major fundraisers
● Schedule and update annual calendar of events
● Develop partnerships within the community to increase fundraising goals
● Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with coworkers, other organizations, and the community
● Manage the volunteer experience: Facebook page, emails/newsletters, tracking & logging volunteer hours, updating policies & procedures.
● Recruit New Volunteers & Host volunteer orientations
● Teach morning cleaning, processing offsite adoptions, dog handling, etc.
● Organize group volunteer events
● Work with Animal Care Manager and Director of Operations to coordinate and attend all adoption events
● Be the main point of contact for volunteers to ask questions when they are on campus
● Maintain and manager volunteer software: Volgistics
● Update protocols and procedures for volunteer program ensuring all waivers, handbooks, documents etc. are updated at all times
● Assist with outward solicitation within the community (building relationships, finding vendors etc.)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand, walk, and move for extended periods of time. Must be able to have reliable transportation to conduct all work in and out of the shelter in Summerville. This role requires flexibility and the ability to stand, lift, kneel, crouch, and bend. This job functions inside and outside the shelter, as duties will take place at a variety of locations. This position also requires frequent lifting or moving of objects or materials up to 50lbs.
