Description
The purpose of the class is to assist staff in the appraisal of new construction and additions by performing routine technical, field, and clerical duties as assigned; and to perform related clerical and customer service duties as required. This class works according to set procedures under close supervision.
Duties
- Applies knowledge of specific department policies and procedures and utilizes a general understanding of other departments' functions to perform the following duties.
- Measures new construction and lists property characteristics.
- Calculates square footage on new construction.
- Assists appraisers in calculating appraisal values.
- Photographs building additions or building conditions for the files as requested.
- Assists in field investigations of mobile homes and real estate parcels within the County.
- Performs computer data entry to establish, maintain and update property appraisal records; maintains database.
- Duplicates maps and other documents as requested.
- Maintains a variety of logs, records and files related to work assignments.
- Greets and assists customers at the counter; answers the telephone, provides requested information, or forwards calls to appropriate staff person; and processes building permits, certificates of occupancies, and appeals.
- Receives and responds to inquiries and requests for assistance from other County/city departments and government agencies, realtors, developers, attorneys, surveyors, other professionals, and the public.
- Attends training, seminars, workshops, etc., as required to enhance or maintain job knowledge and skills.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED.
Requires at least one (1) year of work experience.
Special Qualifications:
Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employees must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Must be available to work anytime during emergencies.
