Purpose of Position: The purpose of this job is to assist with the implementation of the Countys grants program, primarily with recordkeeping, compliance, payables, receivables, and auditing. Essential Job Functions: Maintains accurate grants records in accordance with established practices and aligns daily records to reconcile with year-end audit requirements. Processes weekly requests for payment of grant expenses, and, where applicable, files for reimbursements from awarding agencies. Participates in quarterly and annual reporting required by the various awarding agencies. Works with the Countys independent auditors during year-end audits to ensure accurate accounting of all grants, preparing journal entries as needed. Works with agency auditors during individual compliance audits. Works with the Finance Director in the preparation of various accounting reports for special projects, especially grant-like revenue processes. Interacts with multiple departments and outside agencies in the administration of grants. Attends grants-related and accounting webinars and workshops to increase knowledge, ensure compliance with regulations, and improve grants accounting procedures. Other duties as assigned. Education/Experience/Certifications (minimum qualifications): Associates degree with three years of grant accounting, grant management or related work experience required (bachelor's degree preferred) to effectively perform the positions responsibilities or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job. Knowledge of legal documents and the ability to interpret federal, state, and local government laws and regulations regarding grant contracts, administration and procurement. Microsoft experience (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to maintain good working relationships with other departments, as well as various agencies. Familiarity with grants and finance software, technology, and trends. Ability to multi-task, start and stop tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional demeanor. Physical requirements and working environment: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including a computer, copier, telephone, and communications equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for light work. Clear vision and hearing, including the ability to communicate effectively in various environments. Other: May be required to work on religious holidays. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Must work cooperatively with others. When position requires vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by Dorchesters safe driving policy.
