Doppelmayr USA is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Sr. Operations Manager to drive strategic planning, process improvement, and operational excellence.  Based in Salt Lake City, UT,  this leadership role will oversee metal manufacturing and coatings, electrical controls production, procurement, logistics, production scheduling, facilities and maintenance, ensuring seamless coordination and execution to support successful project completion.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute manufacturing strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Monitor operational processes and develop Key Performance Indicators, to ensure efficiency, productivity, profitability, and quality targets are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
  • Promote a safe work environment through effective processes, work practices, and training.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, sales, customer service, project management and field services to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to optimize workflows, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team through hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Align departmental activities with sales forecasts, demand planning, and budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, industry standards, and quality management systems, such as ISO certifications.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices and actively seek opportunities to leverage new technologies or methodologies to improve processes.
  • Review the performance of direct reports, including identifying opportunities and developing plans to improve the performance of individuals and departments.

Your Profile

  • Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability and maturity to motivate and inspire a diverse team, have difficult conversations, and participate in higher-level company management discussions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering, business management, etc.).  A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in senior manufacturing management role, with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in metal manufacturing operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing manufacturing strategies that drive operational excellence and achieve business objectives.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding and metal manufacturing principles, processes, and technologies, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (IFS experience is a plus). Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to drive performance improvements.
  • Solid understanding of quality management systems and best practices, such as ISO 9001.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with supplier negotiations and agreements.
  • Experience with logistics, including loading trucks, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehousing.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience implementing health and safety regulations and practices within the manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven success managing complex metal manufacturing operations in a highly regulated industry.
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and ISO certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of metal manufacturing processes, technologies, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a high-performing operations team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional certifications, such as Certified Manufacturing Professional (CMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), are a plus.
  • Familiarity with ski lifts is a plus.

Job Information

Schedule:

  • Full-time – typically 40-50 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • This is a salary position, so some evening and weekend work may be required to ensure on-time execution of projects.

Work Location:

  • This is an in-office position in Salt Lake City, UT 84104.
  • The successful candidate must be able to reliably commute to the office to report to work.
