The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic Sales Manager to drive sales growth in our collaborative robot (cobot) automation solutions. This role will be instrumental in establishing our market presence and building long-term customer relationships as we expand across multiple industries. While initially focused on case erecting, case packing, and palletizing applications, the position will grow to include future solution developments.
The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in collaborative robotics with proven capital equipment sales experience and the adaptability to grow with our expanding technology portfolio.
[Key Responsibilities]
1. Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans for cobot based automation solutions
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities within target industries and regions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, including plant managers, automation engineers, and C-suite executives
- Manage the complete sales cycle from initial contact through solution development and contract negotiation
2. Prospect Development & Customer Acquisition
- Conduct territory analysis to identify high-potential prospects and market segments
- Research and target companies with manual end-of-line processes suitable for automation (future focus to new applications as solutions are released)
- Create and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities across targeted industries
- Utilize prospecting methods including cold outreach campaigns, networking, referrals, and industry events
- Establish company presence in new geographic markets
3. Technical Solution Development
- Collaborate with engineering teams to create concepts for cobot automation solutions
- Conduct site assessments and ROI analyses for prospective customers
- Present technical proposals and demonstrations of collaborative robot capabilities
- Support customers through implementation planning and system integration processes
4. Market Expansion
- Represent company at industry trade shows and conferences
- Support the strategic expansion from current end-of-line applications to future solution-based cobot offerings
- Identify new application opportunities aligned with company priorities
5. Customer Success
- Set clear expectations and deliver high customer satisfaction
- Maintain ongoing relationships for potential expansion opportunities
- Gather customer feedback to inform product development initiatives
- Provide post-sale support coordination with technical teams
Required Qualifications
1. Experience & Background
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of capital machinery sales experience
- Proven track record in industrial automation or manufacturing equipment sales
- Experience with collaborative robots (cobots) and automation technologies preferred
- Knowledge of end-of-line packaging, palletizing, or material handling applications
2. Technical Skills
- Understanding of industrial automation concepts and applications
- Familiarity with robotic systems integration and programming concepts
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with CRM systems and sales tracking tools
3. Core Competencies
- Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills across diverse territories
- Excellent presentation and communication abilities for various stakeholder levels
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and manage large geographic territories
- Problem-solving aptitude for complex technical sales situations
- Strategic planning and market development capabilities
- Proven ability to identify and penetrate new markets and customer segments
- Willingness to travel (estimated 25-50%)
4. Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with Doosan, Universal Robots, or other cobot manufacturers
- Background in packaging, food & beverage, consumer goods, or logistics industries
- Experience selling engineered-to-order or custom automation solutions
- Proven track record of successful territory development and market penetration
