Work is performed in various indoor and outdoor environments under potentially hazardous conditions. Must lift a minimum of 100 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday. Exposure to weather extremes, infectious diseases, violent individuals, and traumatic injuries is frequent. Work often involves confined spaces, fires, spills, and traffic accidents. The role includes on-call duties, which may disrupt personal schedules. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. The department may assess each employee's fitness to perform essential functions.

Job Summary
This position provides advanced emergency medical care at the scene of incidents and during transport to medical facilities. The position requires precision, adherence to protocols, and the ability to function under high-stress conditions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Administers advanced pre-hospital care in alignment with the Paramedic Scope of Practice to stabilize patients in emergency situations.
- Transports patients safely to appropriate healthcare facilities while monitoring vital signs and performing ongoing treatment as needed.
- Maintains current clinical certifications and participates in required continuing education and skill validations.
- Conducts routine maintenance checks on emergency vehicles and equipment; ensures medical supplies are stocked and operational.
- Prepares and submits complete and accurate documentation, including patient care reports, billing forms, and incident summaries.
- Operates emergency vehicles in compliance with safety regulations and departmental protocols under diverse road and weather conditions.
- Engages with the community through educational programs and public outreach events to promote emergency preparedness and safety.
- Notifies supervisory staff of operational concerns, unusual incidents, or equipment discrepancies.
- Responds promptly to dispatch calls from a station-based assignment, maintaining readiness for immediate deployment.
- Performs station and administrative duties as directed to support operational efficiency.

Required Education & Experience
- Licensed as a Paramedic in the State of Wisconsin.
- Current Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- Valid driver's license.
- Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700, and 800 courses within six (6) months of hire.
Preferred Education & Experience
- At least one (1) year of progressive experience as a Paramedic in an emergency medical environment.
