Wipfli is assisting our client, Door County Medical Center (DCMC), with the recruitment and selection of a Registered Nurse – Obstetrics. DCMC is a trusted, community‑focused critical access hospital serving Sturgeon Bay, WI and the surrounding area. Known for its warm, patient‑centered culture and commitment to compassionate care, DCMC blends the charm of a close‑knit community with the resources of a modern, progressive health system.   

 

An OB/RN at DCMC provides comprehensive care to mothers, newborns, and families across the continuum of obstetric services. In this rural healthcare environment, nurses practice with a broad scope and high level of autonomy, utilizing strong clinical judgment, flexibility, and collaboration. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Supports Door County Medical Center’s mission, values, and strategic vision, consistently promoting a culture of compassionate, patient‑centered care and collaboration. 
  • Performs comprehensive assessments, recognizes normal and abnormal findings, and implements appropriate interventions across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care. 
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary care team. 
  • Ensures a safe care environment and responds effectively to emergent and life‑threatening situations. 
  • Delivers care in an organized, efficient manner, demonstrating sound clinical judgment, prioritization, and appropriate delegation. 
  • Provides patient and family education related to treatment, recovery, discharge, and follow‑up care. 
  • Documents care accurately, timely, and thoroughly in accordance with nursing standards and hospital policies. 
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure coordinated, high‑quality, and cost‑effective care delivery. 
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and supports a positive, professional, and team‑oriented work environment. 
  • Maintains licensure, professional competencies, regular attendance, and flexibility to float or take call as patient care needs require. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred 
  • One year of related nursing experience; obstetrics or labor and delivery experience preferred 
  • Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification 
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification 
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification 
  • Demonstrated competence in core nursing skills, including patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, dosage calculations, and sterile technique. 
  • Clear, effective communication skills – both written and verbal 
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills; comfort with electronic documentation 
  • Able to problem-solve by applying learned knowledge and concepts to work situations 
  • Ability to work as a team member and to contribute to a positive work environment

Schedule: 

  • 30-36 hours per week 
  • 12-hour night shifts with rotating weekends 
  • Shift differentials (percent of base hourly rate): 
  • 10% for PM shift 
  • 17% for Night shifts
