Complete Building Services—a Donohoe Company, is hiring an HVAC Manager in support of a large campus in Washington, DC. The HVAC Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of HVAC systems across all four zones of the campus. The role ensures that all HVAC and refrigeration systems function efficiently, directing a team of HVAC Technicians and Leads to maintain operational integrity and provide a comfortable and safe environment for all facilities. The HVAC Manager also supports Building Management Systems (BMS) adjustments, troubleshooting, and strategic maintenance planning.

The HVAC Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of HVAC systems across all four zones of the campus. The role ensures that all HVAC and refrigeration systems function efficiently, directing a team of HVAC Technicians and Leads to maintain operational integrity and provide a comfortable and safe environment for all facilities. The HVAC Manager also supports Building Management Systems (BMS) adjustments, troubleshooting, and strategic maintenance planning.
Major Responsibilities
HVAC System Management and Optimization
- Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems
- Manage support equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, heat pumps, compressors, and air distribution systems
- Ensure HVAC controls, mechanical components, and electrical systems are calibrated and operating at peak efficiency
- Coordinate with the BMS team to make adjustments to optimize energy consumption and occupant comfort
- Assign work orders to HVAC Technicians and HVAC Leads, ensuring optimal workload distribution and response time
- Provide training and mentor-ship to HVAC staff on system operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance techniques
- Maintain compliance with EPA refrigerant regulations, ensuring all personnel follow federal and state environmental laws
- Work with the different zone teams to coordinate and align maintenance and operational strategies
- Perform system diagnostics on mechanical, electrical, and piping systems
- Analyze operational data and reports, making necessary changes to improve system efficiency
- Implement preventative maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Ensure compliance with safety, operational, and environmental regulations
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs and analyze system trends to inform future improvements
- Work with contractors and vendors to manage HVAC service agreements and procure necessary equipment
- Participation in long-term planning for HVAC system upgrades and energy efficiency initiatives
- Provide technical input for new construction and renovation projects

Minimum Qualifications
- 15 years of experience in commercial HVAC operations, including supervisory experience
- EPA refrigerant Handling Certification required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field
- Experience with BMS systems and HVAC energy optimization strategies
- Knowledge of local and federal HVAC regulations
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building management systems (BMS)
- Strong knowledge of HVAC controls, energy management systems, and refrigeration equipment
- Supervision
- Standard hours with on-call responsibilities for emergencies
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and lift heavy equipment
Salary : $65 - $70
