Donnell & Company, PA is a locally owned and operated accounting firm seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety—balancing bookkeeping, tax preparation, and client communication in a collaborative setting. The Staff Accountant will assist in preparing financial statements, supporting tax engagements, and maintaining accurate client records in accordance with professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns.
- Support month-end and year-end closings for small business clients.
- Perform bank reconciliations and post monthly payroll/sales tax.
- Prepare and file federal and state payroll tax returns.
- Communicate directly with clients to obtain information, resolve discrepancies, and provide excellent service.
- Stay current on accounting and tax regulations relevant to small business clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 2 years of accounting or tax experience in a public accounting setting preferred.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), Excel, and accounting/tax software (e.g., Lacerte, UltraTax, Accounting CS, Drake, or similar).
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines.
