Summary: As a Dietician, you would be a member of an interdisciplinary team and provide Medical Nutrition Therapy which may include consulting with physicians on nutrition support requests; planning and supervising the preparation of special diets and menus; maintaining safe and sanitary conditions; and training or assisting individuals, families, and staff to plan specialized and therapeutic nutrition care plans
Job Title: Nutritionist/Dietitian
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Target Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM
Target Duration/End Date: June 2028
Description of Roles and Responsibilities:
· Perform comprehensive nutrition screenings and assessments. Develop and implement individualized Medical Nutrition Therapy(MNT) plans
· Document nutrition assessments, interventions, and outcomes within the electronic medical record
· Provide nutrition groups, education and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers
· Participate in facility-wide and departmental Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives
· Participate in multidisciplinary patient care rounds and departmental meetings
· Support staff development initiatives and contribute to improved clinical outcomes
· Complete Swallowing Screen as needed
Mandatory/Minimum Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field from an accredited institution. Candidates must be a Registered Dietitian with the Commission of Dietetic Registration
Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:
· Current registration with the CDR as an RD or certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist, and one year of post-registration/certification experience proving dietetic services to individuals
· Conducting program monitoring to ensure compliance with Federal regulations in the Metropolitan NY region
· Providing nutrition program guidance and technical assistance
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of medical staff, healthcare professionals, managers, clients, customers, and the public
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and volume
· Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
· Possesses necessary skills to effectively operate the hospital’s electronic medical record system
· Ability to operate a standard computer, including basic use of MS applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
