What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at DonahueFavret Contractors, Inc.?
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to handle accounts payable, job costing, and general ledger functions. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role supports daily accounting operations, ensures accurate project records, and assists with month-end close, billing, and audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process subcontractor and vendor invoices, verify documentation, and issue payments.
- Maintain accurate project files, contracts, and change orders in Viewpoint.
- Post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and prepare monthly allocations.
- Support monthly/annual close processes, audits, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with AIA billing and pay applications.
- Respond to project team, vendor, and subcontractor inquiries.
- Maintain vendor database and assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field (preferred).
- 3 years of accounting experience, ideally in construction.
- Knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and WIP.
- Experience with AIA billing and construction contracts.
- Proficiency in Viewpoint or similar accounting software.
- Strong Excel, organization, and communication skills.
