Don’s Heating and Air is seeking a Heavy Commercial Demand Service Technician. Tech will diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair large-scale commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems on an emergency or as-needed basis. Will be required to work on heavy equipment like large centrifugal/chillers, cooling towers, built-up air handlers, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, and industrial-grade rooftop package units.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose Failures: Test complex electrical circuits, pneumatic/digital controls, compressors, and fluid lines to find root causes of sudden system breakdowns.
Manage Emergency Calls: Respond quickly to high-priority demand service dispatches to limit downtime for commercial operations.
Handle Refrigerants: Recover, recycle, and manage refrigerants according to strict environmental rules.
Communicate and Report: Explain technical problems to building owners or facility managers and write clear service reports.
Job Requirements
Experience: 5 to 8 years of hands-on field experience with heavy commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems.
Certifications: EPA Universal (608) Certification is mandatory; NATE certification or OEM equipment training is a strong plus.
Technical Skills: Expert ability to read complex wiring schematics, blueprints, and diagnostic software.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, climb high ladders to rooftops, and work in tight mechanical rooms or extreme outdoor weather.
Availability: Must join an on-call emergency rotation and work overtime when commercial systems fail.
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
