Don Franklin Auto in Somerset, KY is currently seeking a skilled and self-motivated Lead Automotive Mechanic to join our team at our Somerset Recon (reconditioning) location. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of vehicles, ensuring optimal performance and safety to prepare pre-owned vehicles for sale within our dealership group. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse range of automotive brands in a fast-paced, environment. Salary pay will be based on experience and will be discussed during the interview process. Applicants must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics using automotive electrical systems, schematics, and advanced diagnostic tools to identify issues accurately.
- Conduct repairs on engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes, shocks & struts, and other mechanical systems with precision and efficiency.
- Service vehicle maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, wheel alignments, and brake repairs to ensure safety and reliability.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and mechanical knowledge to complete repairs according to manufacturer specifications.
- Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems effectively.
Skills
- Proven automotive repair experience with a strong understanding of automotive repair procedures.
- Expertise in ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and auto electrical systems.
- Knowledge of brake systems, powertrain components, and automotive suspension systems repair.
- Skilled in transmission repair, wheel alignment, tire service, shocks & struts replacement, and oil change procedures.
- Ability to diagnose issues using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics efficiently.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to relay technical information clearly.
